Special Edition Romance Books. What you need to know.
Your favorite romance book. You’ve read it more than once. You’ve highlighted your favorite passages and you bought your ticket to Wild and Windy Book Event, a multi-day romance book convention so you can meet the author. Do you bring your book from home or preorder?
Why not do both?
Bring the regular cover sold on Amazon and preorder the special of your favorite romance book from the author. That way you’ll have 2 beautiful books for the author to sign and when you get home you can display both beauties on your bookshelf along with your LED event bookshelf light that will be inside your premium tote when you arrive and register at the convention.
What is a special edition?
It is an alternative version of your favorite romance book. Sometimes it is even a limited printing which makes it an even more special collectible.
What details might a special edition have that a regular version won’t.
An exclusive event only cover
Shiny foiling detail
An alternative cover
A discreet cover ie objects on the cover versus models
Sprayed edges in special colors sometimes with images that represent the story
Inlays like see through velum with a quote or exclusive artwork
NSFW artwork yes those that represent a spicy scene in the book.
These are only a few examples special editions can also be hardcovers. They can include dust jackets, sometimes even reversible ones. They can also include commissioned end papers and exclusive chapter headings.
Authors often include other incentives when you preorder special editions from them. For example totes, mugs, t-shirts, bookmarks.
But the best thing of all in our opinion is meeting your favorite author in person, explaining how much their story meant to you and taking a picture to commemorate the moment. You can display the picture on your bookshelf beside your special edition.
