Romance Book Convention 101 by Wild and Windy Book Event

Wild and Windy Book Event is a romance book convention established in Chicago ten years ago in 2016 and rapidly expanded to locations into other major cities like Las Vegas, Phoenix, and New Orleans. In 2028, there will be a Charleston, South Carolina location and in 2029, there will be a Tampa location.

What do you need to know about attending a multi-day romance book convention?

Number one, you will have fun and you will be surrounded by romance book lovers just like you who love to share their favorite books and authors. 

What do you need to bring?

Comfortable shoes, a rolling book cart, and plastic storage container bags to protect all the signed special edition romance books that you will collect.

Will authors sign my books?

Yes, authors will sign your books and most will take photos with you too. Your ticket gives you access to the signing room or rooms where all the authors have tables. 

What is there to do at a multi-day romance book convention like Wild and Windy Book Event?

At Wild and Windy Book Event, you register and pickup your premium tote with premium swag. Depending on your ticket level, your premium swag item might be an insulated 24 ounce H2GO with the event logo, an event autograph journal that includes pages for the attending authors and narrators to sign, and a LED bookshelf light with the event logo that you can display at home on your bookshelf alongside all the special edition books that you had signed. 

There are also question and answer panels to attend that feature your favorite romance book author and romance audiobook narrator. The sessions are usually 45 minutes long with the last 15 minutes being available for audience questions. There are signing sessions where you have your favorite romance book signed and have the opportunity to meet and take photos with your favorite romance authors and narrators. There are also bookish vendors that you can shop, mixers where you can mingle with authors, narrators, book models, and fellow romance book lovers. There are opportunities to share friendship bracelets and other crafts with book lovers and or authors and narrators. At Wild and Windy Book Event, we also have spicy bingo at each of our locations and a themed party where you can dance, sample delectable desserts, dress to the theme if you wish, and take lots of photos at the themed photo ops. At some Wild and Windy locations like Chicago narrators read spicy book scenes out loud.

Lastly, if your number one goal is to meet the highest number of the most popular authors, you should prioritize getting a VIP ticket. At all the Wild and Windy locations, a VIP ticket gets you exclusive access into the signing room with the authors ahead of all the other ticket levels. A VIP ticket also comes with more swag and a special edition event autograph journal.
